Long time no press

Hey guys! It’s been a long time since I’ve been on WordPress. My last post was on the last day of 2012. Haha! And now, more than half of 2013 has passed and I haven’t done a single WordPress entry since this year.

To be honest, I don’t know why I suddenly stopped. A part of me is thinking that I was getting preoccupied a lot and another part is relieving myself with the thought that I was busy living. Haha! If that makes any sense. But I know those memories won’t be enough if I didn’t document it. And being the forgetful person that I am, I would practically forget all those things in just a few months and I would definitely regret it. So. Here I am. Back at this blogging thing. Let’s make this work once again!

Ateneo Drive

It was a random day, couldn’t remember what date it was. I was passing by Katipunan and like every single time I pass, I ponder on entering Ateneo.. staying for a while, letting it all sink back in as I reminisce those wonderful years. This time, I decided to enter. The memories of each corner, crevice, street and building are a lot to take in for one single ride around the campus but I pursue this choice and realize that with every single time I pass, I will fall in love with this place and all it stands for over and over again.

I was driving with one hand and holding my phone on the other. I didn’t care if it was a bit shaky, I just wanted to take everything.

After that, I dropped by Gesu and prayed for a while. I am still wondering if I could get married here. If any Atenean knows if we can, please please let me know. I am dying to find out!! There is no other place I would want to tie the knot in but here!

And then I took a stroll on the new red brick sidewalk surrounding the campus. Isn’t it neat? 🙂

At the end of my drive, I stayed at the best possible place you can view the sunset – at the football field overlooking the Katipunan horizon.

There was no place  I’d rather be that day.

Robots & Dinosaurs

T and I brought the two kiddies to the Mind Museum. We had a really great time playing and learning a lot of things especially the kids who kept running around and checking what cool things they can tinker with. The Mind Museum was a complex made up of two floors full of robots, dinosaurs, secret rooms and futuristic trinkets. Really happy we finally found the time to go cause it was too cool a place not to check out. 🙂

Inspiring words from a college senior

Okay first off, this is definitely a throwback in time in the year 2011 when I applied for a leadership assembly in Ateneo. I just chanced upon the file as I was helping Pat with something very similar, hehe. I can’t believe I even wrote or at the very least, thought like this when I was a senior. This definitely gave me back my perspective. This essay had so much drive and passion, I didn’t recognize these were my own words.

In 500 words or less, explain your development during your org experience. How has your org helped you grow as a person? How can you use your experience to contribute to nation-building?

ACOMM has helped me grow in a lot of ways. Starting out as Project Associate then working my way up has been one humbling learning experience in all these years of college. I could never imagine myself to be the person I am now if it weren’t for ACOMM. My 1st year self would never have thought that I had these capabilities in me that at the end of the road in college, I can actually become a leader, a real one at that. The fact that I was able to handle one department under my roof, under my name is already one I would never get to do if ACOMM didn’t give me a chance to recognize my strength and my capabilities and that in the end, the only thing left for me to do was to tap and use them. At first, I was just a person who kept to herself and to her friends, now I’m someone a random Freshman runs to whenever they are in need. ACOMM has definitely expanded my horizons, not just professionally but socially in the regard for other people. The organization has taught me how to look towards other things outside of myself, to look beyond my own interests and concerns. It has significantly influenced the way I do and think of things and how each action can impact other people. Call it cliché but it’s one of those things that you overlook and forget in the process.. that you don’t just do things for yourself, you do it for other people. It has more than just molded me into becoming a competent, hardworking and dedicated leader, it has made me realize the importance of being aware of others and their needs. Being in Human Resources, it’s the member who breathes life to the organization. Without them, we wouldn’t be standing. That’s why I have come to learn the craft of listening to the members and what they need. Communication is key not only in organizations but in everyday life and that’s something I will bring with me come graduation.

In the end, we are not here for ourselves but for others as well. This, I believe will help in contributing to nation-building. If we just try to look beyond ourselves and at the bigger picture, we would see how much of what we focus ourselves on could have been rendered to other people. How much time and effort we’ve made to furthering our own selves could have been used to further our fellowmen or our country. A chance of making it big in our endeavors is another chance for the others such as the unfortunate, poor and marginalized for just making it.

The Playboy’s Birthday

Our cousin, Kevin recently turned 22 last May 25 and we celebrated it in our most favorite condo, in Burgundy Taft. Memories came rushing back in as we returned to the place for a night of cheers and games. This condo also had a fair share of sleepovers, birthday celebrations, christmas/new year parties and family reunions back in the day. We were happy to come back and spend this playboy’s birthday here.

Happy birthday, you Playboy!

Here’s a video as tribute to your self-adopted “Barney Stinson” persona although you would more likely consider this as blackmail. Hehehe. Cheers!
